Our friendly club is based in the small rural town of Bourne in South Lincolnshire in the beautiful setting of the Abbey Lawns which plays host to other outdoor facilities including Football, Cricket, Tennis and Bowls. We have members of all ages and abilities who get together to play the French sport of Pétanque in a fun and social atmosphere.
The club started in 1986 and currently has over 30 members including people from Bourne and the surrounding villages as well as from Deeping, Oakham, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford.
We play twice a week on Sundays and Wednesdays at 1.30pm with a refreshments break in the middle of the session. The club plays throughout the year. We have even been known to play when there has been snow on the ground. During summer, sessions start at the slightly elater time of 2pm due to the lack of daylight in these months.
Three open competitions are held every year where players from other clubs come to participate and we have competitions amongst the club members too. Invitatons are regularly received to go and play in competitions at other clubs up and down the country and even abroad.
Anybody who wishes to try the game is very welcome to come down and have a go, with no obligation to join the club. Everybody gets three sessions free of charge. If you then wish to join the club it only costs £20 per year (=38p per week). The club can loan equipment for free or until you decide to purchase your own.
We hold special private functions for groups, clubs and businesses. Please get in touch if you are interested.
Use the menu bar at the top of the page to work your way around the site to find out more about Pétanque and our club, plus information on how to contact and find us. We hope you find everything you need.

/ September 1, 2014I visited your club on Sunday and was impressed with the layout. There were only four players at the time,as the others were playing away. They were very helpful and let me have
a practice in the spare lane. Not as easy as it looks! Plenty of practise needed.I will see you
on Wednesday.Best wishes Tony Gellard.
